Davenport is an Australian company owned by Gazal Apparel Pty Ltd. Gazal acquired the Davenport trademark in 2003.
Davenport Industries commenced in 1987 under the direction of Clyde Davenport, then an advertising executive, who had a dream to create a product over which he had total marketing control, rather than just the advertising component. His dream was to take the marketing principles of the leading food companies with which he had been working and apply them to simple commodity items.
Clyde had observed the success of boxer shorts in Europe and returned to Australia with an idea to create his own underwear company. Sensing that boxer shorts were about to become the newest menswear phenomenon, Clyde set his sights on creating a brand which would embrace a unique personality - one of wit and humour.
The sense of fun, wit and style allowed men the freedom to express themselves with unique designs. Davenport proved that men too enjoyed having a wide selection of underwear to choose from, as well as looking great and feeling comfortable. Davenport continued to grow and became Australia's favourite men's boxer short brand.
In August 2007 Davenport had a total brand relaunch, including the launch of a fashion forward women's underwear collection as an extension to the strong menswear offer.
Cheeky, irreverent, fun and witty, the Davenport brand remains synonymous with it's long standing heritage.
Davenport delivers a new fashion alternative to underwear. Graphic prints, vibrant colours and a range of shapes and styles too comfortable to take off, categorise the new fashion forward collections.
Davenport offers basics with a difference. Superior fit, shape and comfort in affordable coloured cotton essentials.
